Inquiries adbout G520 I2SIN TDM channels

What is the maximum number of TDM channels that the two I2SIN interfaces on the G520 can support?

Hi @Apollo_Chen

There are two I2SIN interfaces on the G520, and each interface supports 2 channels, so a total of 4 channels are supported.

Hi @zoran.zhan

The MT8395 has an I2S IN in TDM mode with a channel count of 16, which means the device supports extracting audio data from up to 16 channels within a single TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) audio stream. TDM mode allows multiple channels of audio data to be transmitted in an interleaved manner within one audio stream, processed sequentially through time division. Therefore, a channel count of 16 indicates that it can handle audio data from 16 different channels through a single TDM input. This configuration is commonly used in multi-microphone arrays or multi-channel input systems, such as conference systems, smart voice devices, or professional audio processing equipment. For example, if you have an array of 16 microphones transmitting data through one TDM line, this I2S IN (in TDM mode) can receive and decode data from all 16 microphones simultaneously. So are you saying that the total channel count of the G520 is 4?

Hi @Apollo_Chen

Your understanding of TDM is correct.

On MT8395, there are two eTDM in interfaces: eTDM in1 support 24 channels, and eTDM in2 supports 8 channels.

G520 (MT8371) also has two eTDM in interfaces, but each only supports 2 channels.
