What does "Virtual channel: 6x FHD30" means in Genio 720 specification?

Hi there,

I’m reading the Genio 720 specification, especially the camera part.
The Video-in Interface shown on the website is

2x MIPI-CSI (4L)
(Virtual channel: 6x FHD30)

I have some questions about this spec:

  1. I guess 4L means 4-Lane MIPI CSI D-PHY. Does it support C-PHY?
  2. What is the supported format for this FHD30?
  3. How to connect the cameras to achieve 6x FHD30?
  4. There are two MIPI-CSI ports; does this mean I can use up to 12x FHD30 (6+6)?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @andrew.hess ,

Yes, Genio 720 supports 3-trio C-PHY.

The supported format for 6xFHD30 through the virtual channel is YUV422 8-bit.

The maximum number of virtual channels supported per CSI port is 4.
To achieve 6xFHD30, you need to use 2 CSI ports to connect 4+2 or 3+3 cameras
You can refer to Virtual Channel (V4L2 Sensor) — IoT Yocto documentation for more details.

No, Genio 720 supports up to 4x MIPI virtual channels per CSI port, and up to 6x FHD30 cameras with MIPI virtual channels.
